I think the dichotomy of veterinary medicine is an artificial separation. What does a lizard have in common with a horse? Or a kangaroo?
There are few different types of stethoscopes.
Most physicians have both a diaphragm and a bell, while most vets have a membrane. As the bell is used only to a number of specific things, namely a narrowing of the arteries, heart murmurs and abnormal heart vets, some sounds that are not apparent to hear in animals.
There are mono diaural training and electronic stethoscopes and much more.
You may be able to use an animal and a veterinarian will be used in humans, but you lose the ability, the bell, if necessary use.
To buy, you can at the workshop of a local medical school. Otherwise, you could buy a connection, only for their research. A price is approximately U.S. $ 20. They are used for mosment to see if the heart and lungs are still there. A stethoscope heart of Nice, to help distinguish between different types of heart sounds, you have several hundred dollars.
